If a private pool is the point of the trip, we have exactly one. White House has its own teal plunge pool beside a seasonal waterfall, air conditioning and an enclosed kitchen, and it sleeps two. It is the only pool at Spice, so it goes first in high season.
We sit in the hills directly behind the beach on Haad Tien, next door to The Sanctuary, which holds the beachfront and runs as a retreat. If you are looking at The Sanctuary and want a private house instead, with your own kitchen, separate bedrooms and children welcome, that is what we are. Baan Sabai and Tamarind House sleep four with air conditioning in both bedrooms, and Palm Villa is a gated compound of two buildings with three bathrooms.
The Eden Garden party on Haad Yuan is a 10 to 15 minute walk over the headland, and the music stays behind the hill.
