White House

White House is the one with the pool. Off the bedroom, on a covered tiled terrace, there's a private teal-tiled plunge pool that opens onto the jungle slope, with a teak lounger beside it — your own water, gated and quiet, for slow afternoons and cooler evenings.

The architecture is the other pleasure. A wide wraparound veranda in red hardwood wraps the house, with two windows you'll remember set into the walls — a shaped red octagon and a round porthole — plus a hammock, a dining area and a sofa. You arrive through a gate in a terracotta-red wall along a tiled walkway. The bedroom is air-conditioned and calm, with coloured-glass windows, and there's a full enclosed kitchen with a gas stove and a whitewashed tree-trunk post left in place. The bathroom opens straight out to the pool terrace through a second door.

Like Jungle House, White House sits right beside a seasonal waterfall, so in the rainy months you can hear the water running over the rocks nearby. Honest note: the styling inside is simpler than some of our other top-tier houses — the architecture and the pool are what you're booking.
