A four-poster bed and a wraparound deck over a jungle ravine
Canal House is the soft, romantic one — the four-poster-and-mosquito-net kind of stay, relaxed rather than fancy. It stands on stilts above a small jungle ravine with a seasonal stream, and it's the most polished of our canal-line houses, built around a lovely bed and a generous outdoor space.
The bedroom is the heart of it: a wooden four-poster with netting knotted at the posts, a deep-orange paper lantern overhead, a mirrored alcove behind the bed and a scatter of art on the walls. Just outside, the wraparound corner deck works as a whole outdoor living room — two daybeds, a carved Thai coffee table, a fixed corner hammock and an octagonal window cut into the wall that frames the jungle. Inside there's a proper living and dining room in warm orange wood, plus an enclosed, fully equipped kitchen.
The bathroom is the most contemporary of the canal houses, with grey tile and a step down into a rain shower. Below the deck, the seasonal canal runs in the rains and rests in the dry.
A 2.5-minute walk (200m) from the beach on a flat path, then three steps at the entrance.
Everyone checks in at the restaurant, and our team carries your bags up to the house from there.
