The old house with soul — antiques, art and a proper living room, for four
Baan Sabai is the house with a bit of history to it. It's one of the few here with a proper living-room space — grand timber doors with ring pulls, a vintage chandelier, burgundy armchairs and a long timber daybed, open to the air like the rest of the house. Most of our houses live on their decks; this one has a real sitting room at its heart, and it carries the feel of a family home that's been looked after for years.
You arrive through a gate in a terracotta-red wall with a coconut palm leaning across it and a boulder rockery up the side path. The covered dining veranda has an antique table and carved chairs under a caged lantern — dinner here feels like an occasion. Two air-conditioned bedrooms make it a real house for four: one with a curved mid-century bed, the other with a carved antique four-poster and netting. Each has its own bathroom, both with mosaic showers and a bit of character.
The kitchen is enclosed and fully equipped. It's the choice for families or two couples who want a whole characterful house with somewhere to gather indoors.
A 2.5-minute walk (190m) from the beach on a flat path, then six steps at the house.
Everyone checks in at the restaurant, and our team carries your bags up to the house from there.
