A room built into a gold boulder, with real trees growing through it
Turquoise is our most affordable room, and it's also one of the most unusual. It's built straight into a big gold-painted granite boulder, with real tree trunks left growing up through the room — one of them is part of the bed frame. The bed's a four-poster with mosquito netting, raised on a platform with the rock rising up behind it. White walls and a high white ceiling keep it bright, so even with all the stone and dark wood it feels airy rather than cave-like.
There are two window ledges to sit at, a little daybed area below the bed, and a green glass lamp that gives the room a nice glow at night. The bathroom's a single room with twin showerheads, and the gold boulder pushes through the wall in there too. There's no kitchen — just a fridge and kettle — so most guests here eat at the restaurant or order in.
A couple of honest notes: Turquoise isn't fully private. It shares an entry and a small lounge area with Amethyst upstairs, your windows look onto the path people use to reach the other rooms, and you can hear a faint hum from the generator. None of that is a problem if you want a characterful, well-priced room to sleep in and you're out and about most of the day — which is exactly who it suits.
A 2-minute walk (160m) from the beach on a flat path, with one step at the door.
Everyone checks in at the restaurant, and our team carries your bags up to the house from there.
